Q05. What load capacity do I really need per shelf level?+
Spec to the heaviest single SKU + 20% safety margin, never average. Common picks: 150 kg/level for archive box files and small-parts bins; 200-300 kg/level for e-commerce totes and DTC pick face; 400-500 kg/level for auto parts, MRO consumables and retail backstock; 500-1,500 kg/level wedge-lock for tire, auto-core, foundry small castings. Q06. Do I need a building permit or seismic calc for boltless rack?+
Generally no for under 2.4m. Boltless under 2.4m height is classified as mobile equipment in 90% of jurisdictions β no building permit, no fire-marshal review, no seismic calc.
