Cantilever Racking — The Specialist for Loads Without Pallets

Cantilever racking replaces vertical uprights and horizontal beams with a column-and-arm structure: arms project horizontally from one or both sides of a centre column. The open front lets forklifts, side-loaders or overhead cranes deposit loads directly onto the arms — no need to fit cargo into rectangular bay openings.

Used wherever standard pallet rack cannot work: long steel bar stock, lumber, plywood sheets, PVC and HDPE pipe, extrusion profile, carpet rolls, fabric rolls, furniture, boats, ladders and any irregular item exceeding 2.5 m in any direction.

Vertical spine of the rack. Hot-rolled IPE/HEA for heavy-duty; roll-formed C-section for medium; cold-rolled C for light-duty. Slotted at 75 or 100 mm pitch.

Base / Foot

Hot-rolled plate fully welded to column base, 4 to 8 anchor holes. Provides overturning resistance — sized by arm bending moment, not just gravity load.

Cantilever Arm

Hot-rolled IPE or rectangular tube projecting horizontally from column. Bolted via gusset plate to column — replaceable when damaged.

Arm Connector / Gusset

01What is cantilever racking and when should I use it instead of pallet rack?
Cantilever racking uses a central column with horizontal arms projecting from one or both sides — there are no front uprights blocking the load. Use it whenever you store items longer than 2.5 m or in non-pallet form: lumber, steel bar, pipe, profile, panel, fabric roll, carpet roll, furniture, mattress or boat. Pallet rack is cheaper per linear metre but physically cannot hold loose long loads.
02What is the maximum arm load capacity?
Standard catalogue: 250 kg (light-duty 2.4 m arm) up to 2,500 kg (heavy-duty 0.6 m arm). Arm capacity is always governed by bending moment — capacity = base rating ÷ (arm length factor). A 1.0 m arm rated 2,000 kg drops to roughly 1,000 kg at 2.0 m. Always specify arm length AND load together; we run stamped FEA on every project.
03What is the difference between single-sided and double-sided cantilever?
Single-sided has arms on one side of the column only — used against a wall or building edge. Double-sided has arms on both sides of one column — used in centre-of-floor rows and gives 2× storage per linear floor metre. Double-sided costs only ~25% more than single-sided (same column, twice the arms + braces).
04Can cantilever racks go outdoors? What about coastal salt air?
Yes. We supply hot-dip galvanised cantilever (80–120 μm) certified to ISO 1461 for outdoor lumber yards, pipe yards and builders merchants. Salt-spray tested ≥1,000 hours per ASTM B117. Optional pitched corrugated steel roof and side-cladding available. Powder coat is NOT recommended for outdoor — it fails in 3–4 years against galvanic 20+ years.
05What is the MOQ — can I order less than a full container?
The minimum order quantity for cantilever racks is 5 units.Cantilever racks are larger in size; approximately 30 units can fit in a 20-foot container. If you have other suppliers in China, we can also consolidate your goods with other customers' containers and ship them to the same port of destination.
06How long is the lead time from PO to ready-for-shipment?
Standard powder-coated medium-duty: 25 days after deposit received. Heavy-duty structural (hot-rolled IPE column): 30–32 days due to hot-roll mill delivery. Hot-dip galvanised: 32–35 days (extra HDG dipping cycle). 304 stainless cantilever: 40–45 days. Outdoor with roof: add 5 days for roof panel fabrication.
